Religious Misconception Claims Another Victim
Our hearts go out to the community because Religious Misconception Claims Another Victim. According to what Google Deems a reliable News Authority, Pablo Martinez was arrested and faces murder charges.
As a result of their interview, Pima County Detectives state the child’s adoptive mother Romelia Martinez confirmed, the man’s 6 year old son , “had been acting demonic.”
She explained to investigators that Pablo offered to give the children a bath and could later hear the child gurgling water. Due to such a loud commotion, she opened the door and witnessed Pablo holding the child under the faucet while the water was running.
Apparently the alleged demonic possession was enough to reach for outside help, so you’d think 911 would be the first thing dialed. This wasn’t the case however, because she first attempted attempted to contact a pastor.
It was only when her efforts to contact the pastor failed that she decided to call 911. She told investigators that she did however tell Pablo repeatedly not to pour hot water into the child’s throat. The man’s response was “He had to do it!” according to her. 🤔
When on the phone with the dispatcher of course Pablo was performing CPR on the child. The child was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived.
Pablo Martinez’s Testimony
So he explains to Pima County investigators that he was pouring hot water down the child’s throat in an effort to cast the demon from him. 😱 This decision of his came as a result of witnessing the boy have a “Unnatural fit and rage.”
So if this isn’t already appalling enough, in addition to drowning this child to death, he apparently did it in front of another child. Because Pablo had apparently taken two children into the bath!
In conclusion, this is a horrible tragedy in which not one, but two foster children had to go through, and one lost his life.Furthermore, the police report didn’t mention drugs or mental impairment. So let us delve behind the scenes into Christianity. Was religion a possible cause?
The Concept of an Exorcism
Just because the Tucson Truth takes the position of unbiased journalism, we are well verse when it comes to biblical scripture. So as many are aware, there are several references to exorcisms in the Holy Bible.
Peter 5:8 – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Luke 9:42 – And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
The closest thing we could find relevant to the logic of Pablo Martinez was found in:
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
So per perhaps baptism can be blamed as to why Religious Misconception claims another victim?
No, because baptism is a ceremonial ritual only to be performed by a priest in all forms of Christianity. Furthermore, according to wikipedia, there’s only two churches of Christianity that widely accept Exorcisms.
The Catholics believe that it is only a priest that can undergo the “Rituale Romanum“. Furthermore, the most that should be attempted in the case of demonic possession is “Prayers of Deliverance”, if they aren’t a priest. Lastly, the church advises the individual be seen by a physical or health care giver to eliminate illness as the cause.
The Lutheran Church
I’m sensing a pattern here, because Lutherans advise a physician be consulted in order to rule out any medical or psychiatric illness as well.
So the process of exorcism is quite similar to Catholicism as it uses the prayers Apostle’s Creed and Our Father. So nowhere within Christianity does it seem to justify drowning a child in hot water to thwart demonic possession!
Probably the take away here is that stupidity comes in all shapes and sizes. So it is never acceptable nor necessary to find a scape goat to blame on a tragedy. Because it isn’t Religion, Drugs, or alcohol that can be blamed for a persons moronic actions and behavior.
Therefore, it would definitely be delightful if more Churches practiced the reading of the bible in its entirety! Because despite not being a person of faith, there is admittedly wisdom to be found within the Holy Bible. However, picking some random verse out of Psalms and justifying ones actions is a falsity.
